So me, the machine shop, and me again all missed this tiny little detail till my buddy saw it, half the dipstick tube (the bottom half) is broken off and stuck down in its hole. The engine is in so there is no easy pulling the pan type answer so I'm looking for some options on how to go about this besides JBwelding the rest of the tube in place or coathangering it out. Thanks!

possible to weld something to what is left of the dipsticktube and use a slidehammer to pull it out?
of course with great care not to set anything on fire

snap-on makes a tool that is attached to a small slide hammer that is designed to do just this job. I just used it last week on a camaro in my shop and it came out in 5 minutes.

LIFE SAVER!

Yeah nothing to weld to in the tube but it was definetly a thought, thanks guys!

A cheaper version of this might be a lag bolt of the right size, welded to the threaded end of a long carriage bolt. I use a similar setup with the hammer part of my slide hammer to pull out oil pump drive bushings.

I had this happent to me as well. I was lucky enuff that the engine was out. A screw driver and needle nose pliers worked. I'd be nervous with it in the car. It would suck to frp the pan to get it out.
