With new regulations on the height of the door bar and the factory door latch would be hitting. Does anyone make a factory replacement that is a straight up latch to clear the cage without cutting the slot into the top of the door? Just curious.

My door latch did not come into contact with my door bars. It was just certified this year.
I have an idea how you could easily remedy it though. Just making a rod that is vertical and bolt the handle to it, bolt the rod to the mechanism

Mine did when I mocked up how high I needed to move my existing door bar. That's the idea I was thinking with a pivot and able to use the factory rod. Just my fab skills aren't that good lol I'll have to think on how to make it.

I can go out take a look and see how what materials I have make you something that will work and send you 1 or do you need 2.
Ya never know it could be valuable some day

Lol that's true, just looking for the drivers side, my passenger side can stay the way it is. That would be awesome thank you

Hey you're welcome, I'll see what I can come up with.

Can I ask what car it is?

My door bar is a PITA as well. My window crank handle (only functioning door glass in the car) hits and I need to open the door in order to roll it down to get my et slip. And the door release is right there too. I can open the door but it is right behind the bar. Thinking about some type of modification this off season. 66 Valiant

My X from the door bars passed right through the center of my interior door handle. I bought a Pro Stock door handle kit for a fiberglass door kit and made my own linkages to make the handles come up through my arm rests pads (on a E Body though). Hard to see, but this about the best pic's I have of what I did. Car has been re-certified 5 times now.

That's exactly what I was thinking about but side E and B body have those door panels unlike A. How it yours bolted to through inner door frame?

Get a C body vent window crank handle, smaller, its what I did for me rears to still roll down the factory glass, I'll take a pic tonight if you want.

Can you send me a photo of where your bar and mechanism intersect so I have an idea of what to build

Here that pic, new bar isn't in yet, and this bar is bent in to clear the arm rest. New bar will be straight and non hinged. I cut an old factory one for now. Hoping to get the new bar plus a X brace installed soon by a family welder friend.

Ya and door handle wants to be on the inside of the door bar sticking out. Is the input drive of the door handle available in steel? Something i can attach an arm that works ?

That looks like a simple fix no matter where your bars are.

True just want something more stable and easier to open the door, and not worry about the bar in anyway that's why I was wondering how to make a vertical lever work on the inside of the door panel with some sort of pivot lever

Oh thats an interesting thought. I was thinking just build a rod with a pad to bolt on and a little handle that you could get a couple fingers behind to pull.

Guess I could get this kit and just S shape the handle and cut a slot where the factory inside handle is just inbetween the mount holes and pass it through to make it work instead of cutting a slot in the top of the factory door. Hate to cut up a factory door but might just be easier to put a slot in the top, wonder if this works with a functioning window
