My fuel gauge and temperature gauge are intermittent on my 64 Valiant. No spiking, but one time I drive it, gauges read accurately, next time nothing at all. I drive a while and sometimes they come back...I am still thinking regulator.

What say ya'll?

I'm not familiar with the 64 cluster. Is the IVR in the fuel gauge in those? There are several "gotchas" in the 67/ later stuff.........

intermittent power to the IVR
Those fit into a "socket" in the pc board, those contacts can give trouble
studs/ nuts on the gauges can lose contact and get corroded.
Of course the IVR itself.

I've got a 64 Sport Fury and the IVR is as described in 67Dart273's second paragraph. His comments are right on. They make solid state replacements for the IVR. They're not cheap, but if you have the PC board out, you should replace it.
