I have a 512 stroker motor with a 850 double pumper on it right now and it has all sorts of fueling issues flat spots stumbles ect. Everone in my area says I need to step up to a 1050. I would like your opions.
I have a 3500 stall convertor,roller cam, 2 1/2 primary herb McLandles headers and 3.91 gears.

Sounds a bit small. A lot will depend on your heads and cam too but I suspect you can improve by going up. My motor is stock stroke but has a big roller cam and full ported Indy heads. I run a 950 Holley on it but when I had it on the dyno put a 1050 Dominator on it and gained 30 hp without no tuning. Have you done any work on the 850 with jets, air bleeds etc.?

I would say a bit small, I run a 451 (440 block) stock stroke, 690 comp roller cam, 345 ported indy heads, big valves, indy intake cfm I run a 1250 cfm demon (Barry Grant) no stall, bogs, hick ups, great throttle response.
What kind of fuel pump are you running, need allot of fuel and watch your air cleaner don't chock the air flow, timing, check that and move up on your cfm.. :glasses7:

...............2 1/2 primaries, i'd go to the 1050........can u post a few pics of the headers...thanks......kim..........

ive done everything possible with jets bleeds pump cams ect no real improvment. I will get some pics of the headers and post them here. What would be the best intake to run also I was looking at the mopar intake with 4500 flange.

also I have the 440 source stelth cnc ported heads

A bigger carb isn't gonna cure a stumble just because it's bigger. You have to find the root cause of your problems. If it is in the carb on it now you probably can fix it & keep the one that's on there.

I've never had any luck with 800 or 850 Holley's.
I took a 800 off my 10 second street car, well it was a 11 second street car untill I put my 750 on it and it went 10.70's.

I just finished my 512 ci.for my Charger and Put a 750 on it,No stumble or bog.
It has a .550 hyd cam.

Without knowing more about your comboThere's no way to give a recomendation.

Carb tuning................................................ don't just swap; find the cause in the carb.

It's basically what the cam'stroke/rpm are wanting. They want different at different rpms. Bog-carb or timing at that rpm. Run out of fuel at top-pump.

Mid range problems? combination; start with timing, then see what carg sees, as a signal, from the engine.

The engine always tells the carb what it wonts, unless you force the carb to just bog it.

Put a vacuum gauge on it at idle and see how much vacuum you have, then make sure you have the right size power valve installed.
