Helping a buddy swap an Edelbrock aluminum intake onto his 360.

How many ft/lbs of torque for the 12 mounting bolts?

I assume we should start at the center and work our way across and out as well (like tightening lug nuts on a wheel).

My Haynes manual show's 45 foot lb's, and yes start in the center with clean threads and the intake bolts will need washers :glasses8:

how do you guys check it, I just go by feel, not enough room to check all bolts. I go for around 20--25 lbs and use only the steel core fel pro print 0 seal gasket. The steel core prevents split gaskets later on

I think that may be a little high for the aluminum intakes.. most are in the 25-30ft/lb range.

If you can identify the intake via part# then go to this page and you can find the PDF for info and installation.

I thought it was high to Grant, I was going to say 30 foot lbs But I thought I better look first, I need to be careful giving tec support here.
Haynes is not a good source for info, I need to dig out my old Chilton's or old Plymouth manuals first :glasses8:
Thank you for jumping in :thumleft:

If I were you guys, I'd look at what the manufacturer of the intake says about torque numbers and pattern.
I have a magnum crate and the magnum intake isn't torqued at all like the old way of start in the center and move out.
You also start with inch /lbs and end up with 12 ft/lbs.:downtown:
Why take chances. Why not learn to know your engine and do it the right way. That's just my advice.

That Haynes spec is for cast not aluminum. Use the Edelbrock specs go to their site.
