Been saying I was going to change the intake manifold from a X-cellerator to a Eddy Victor...finally got it going today....hot in the garage but....

These heads and all have been decked so I needed a intake that had been cut...the Weiand had been cut previously.

Hughes CnC Eddy heads with old hughes 1.6 rockers (Dove) and Hughes 260/264 FLAT TAPPET cam...

Got to get a plug in morning for the bypass on the intake manifold....then button it up...

forgot to get the billet thermostat housing this morning....got the plug for the bypass installed....

finally got everything back together...just need to put some water in it...and tighten down the valve covers...and put plug wire and cap back on....fire time....

two weeks we will see if there is any difference ...

As Rosana Rosana Dana says...you know Jane it is always something....LOL

I was changing out the front tires and rims on the Dart...going to a taller tire to slow down reaction times...

As I was installing the lug nuts after i changed out the tires, I noticed that a couple of the lugs were not sticking out as far as the other...dam ...screw in studs backing out...

Can't get a wrench of anything on them from behind....off comes the rim...caliper/brake shoes...and then the hub...

two on each side....I locited these when i assemble the Strange hubs ...well...after cleaning them with brake cleaner..what else....red locited them ....let them dry over night before putting the rims back on

Ok..after red locited them instead of blue...everything is back together...

fire up the engine with new intake...let it idle until it about killed me in garage...now i gotta let garage air out..

Suicide hotline on speed dial? :)

It will probably pick up some. I do like those old weiands on a class cars.

got a busy signal went I dial the hotline....it is vegas you know..

Yes..i am surprised that dart has run 10.70 in lousy weather in Vegas with that Weiand Intake...

and you can bet after a couple of races if the Victor does not show an improvement..the weiand will be back on...and maybe with a 2 inch spacer instead of 1 inch spacer....which i could have easily have tried but never did since it would have been too easy....LOL

Plan on trying bigger squirters and possibly bigger jets with the Victor? I'm sure it has a bigger plenum than the Weiand. Bigger than a Holley Strip Dominator as well.
I like a 1" tapered spacer.

yes.. it has a lot bigger plenum then the X-cellerator...but the car leaves off a transbrake...so the pedal is on the floor....

with the E85 we got .042 squirters in the front and rear....which came stock in the carb from QFT,,,,,

I will have to check to see if I have any bigger squirters ...lol...

Well....

Dart streaks to new best on 1st pass....10.638 @ 124.26 with the DA at 4500 ft...

60 1.443
330 4.271
1/8 6.707
mph 100.33
1000 8.830

next pass was a 10.640 @ 123.87

1st round dial 10.64..... RT .026 Runs 10.648 @ 123.51
2nd round .....same... RT .059 Runs 10.692 @119.86 as she had .08 better light
3rd round....same Rt .035 Runs 10.79 @116,,,,,,Loses...She let the guy get around her in lights...she had a .100 better light....dam....

winner of that round had bye into finals..

She took out points leader in RD 2...

Hey! Nice Videos. Thanks for posting them up.

(Do you have your engine comb in the sticky?)

Thanks for the vids Tony. Glad the rain skipped you guys enough to get out this weekend. :thumleft:

National Muscle Car ***....racing at track with our bracket program...what a cluster F they are...sorry...

Tonya went 3 rounds last night...I mean this morning....round 3 at 3am......Car and driver was running good till then with a best of 10.67 @ 124.......

Rd 2 ran a 10.731 on a 10.73 dial.....Rd 3...which was a good 1 1/2 hrs later...engine bogged ...never got enough heat in it for the corn syrup ....

but...we get to do it again today...along with the NMCA......was suppose to make 1st time trial at 4 pm..they moved that up to 3 pm......I guess that put round 3 at 2 am...

Have you thought about putting in a bleeder/primer valve to help warm it up?

Bet that Camaro bout messed his pants when you jumped out and got that car length on him off the line.

Nice race to watch.

well....heat was not the problem...after getting home at 4 am and getting to sleep at 5 am...and the dog barking at 8: 30 am wanting his morning treat...I decided to head out to the track a couple hours early and check the valve train...found #7 had two bend pushrods..

1st problem..both pushrods would not come out...Called Tonya...told her we were done...

she said she was on her way there anyway....would help push car on trailer...

So I decided to get Magilla Gorilla on it...got big channel locks out..used head of channel locks on pedestal and pulled intake pushrod out.....next..used 1/2 extension laying between springs and channel locks and got exhaust pushrod to come out as it had a almost 90 degree bent on the lifter end...drove back to garage 5 miles away..picked up a set of pushrods...a complete shaft rocker set up..and a few extra rockers...and a 3/8-24 tap...

ran tap thru one of old rockers...ok it was good and adjuster screwed in/out...went to put in two pushrods...pulled one of the good pushrods out of the engine ...to check length...****..i picked up a complete set of hydraulic adjustable pushrods....

Called my youngest daughter who lives where the garage is...she went out in the garage and grabbed a bunch of the pushrods that just came out of her duster the puked the engine...as they were the ones I wanted...brought them out to the track...I had turned the engine over by hand ..so that i would be ready to adjust #7 as soon as i had it bolted back together....as we got it fired they were calling the cars to the lanes....Got in staging lanes...and it started to rain....LOL

Instead of getting two time runs...we one got one...thanks NMCA...never seen so many broken cars at one race...one Nova..has a **** load of smoking coming out of it...let it go down the track..hit NOS bang...clean up time...

Dart run 10.75 @ 124 on only time run.....

1st RD Dial 10.75....light .035 runs 10.79 at 121...out of throttle just before lights....

2nd Rd. Dial 10.75... light .033 runs 10.77 at 121+ but lose close race as opponent had a .028 light and runs only .01 off dial in.....

Head for home and bed....

And that's racing:burnout:

So did the manifold help you 60 foot times or did it help out on the top end?

60 ft times never changed with intake swap....picked up a good 2.5 mph..

Ok...hopefully heading to Bakersfield for the Oct 5-6, Mega Mopar Event....

This dart will see the best air it has ever seen ....as Famoso should be about .25 faster then Vegas,

Car is getting the $1.98 tune up....new cap and rotor...new plugs...new adjusters and jam nuts on rockers..and new set of smith brother pushrods....

E-85 carb is being fatten up for sea level...and got 25 gallon of corn syrup in cans all tested at 85%.

Depending on what it runs...hopefull faster then 10.50.......I might take one of the batteries out of the trunk and pull the belt on the alternator....for a record run...lol

sure hope my sub frame connector were put in level...dam...

You'll LOVE Famoso Tony.... unless of course the prevailing winds blows the rot from next door across the pit area.
