Several of the door panel clip slots are broken(gone). Is there a way to carefully cut out and replace the backing? The front material is in good condition(driver quality).I dont want to replace the whole panel if i can fix it.

Doubt you can remove the vinyl and padding and apply it to a new hard board successfully.

You could epoxy the clips in place BUT I doubt they will take being removed from the door in the future.

You might be able to reinforce the area of each clip with a flat metal strip epoxied onto the board?

I run across door panels that the backing board is in bad shape / warped / broken. But the vinyl is in decent shape, some loose and wrinkled up. Think it's possible to peel off the vinyl and re-glue it on to a piece of 1/8" Masonite ?

If you're handy. If I were to do that they would look worse. LOL I just bought repop panels.

Use velcro that's what I did.
Good idea. I used the plastic christmas trees. They push in easy and hold the panel securely. Those oem metal clips are thumb breakers. LOL

Is the back side of the vinyl (that touches the hard board) vinyl?

I thought the assembly was hard board - foam - vinyl, then the pattern was melted into the vinyl from the front face.
