Gents,

Subject vehicle: 1967 Barracuda
Manual Front DISC brakes: ‘73 & up style

What’s been done:
Master cylinder replaced ~8 years ago
Front flex hoses replaced ~8 years ago
New front calipers installed ~1 year ago
I drove it all last summer without issue.

I drove the car last night for the first time since July 2021 and the front brakes were dragging. I pulled the brake pedal towards myself and pumped the brakes several times and all seems well.

I’ve heard of OLD front flex hoses causing this but they were replaced ~8 years ago.

Any ideas?

Graham

Surface rust on the pistons, parked while wet?

Pulling the pedal towards you SHOULD not achieve the desired effect of pulling the MC piston back.

It might depending on how well the pushrod keeper is seated etc.

The piston in the master cylinder could be hanging and not allowing fluid to return to the reservoir thru the ports for the piston after pedal application. By pulling pedal back you allowed the ports to be exposed and the pressure/fluid to return in the reservoir. Could be an issue or may have just dried out some from sitting.

Thanks to all for the speedy replies. I’m going to monitor it and see if it happens again.
