I joined the site via a link sent to me from another site. I’ve been searching for some information on the LA 318’s.

Seems I kept finding the information I needed here!

I have a ‘32 Dodge PU. Also had a 318 I that was rebuilt (stock) for another project some 25 years ago.
I read the talk of the decks, etc. since the engine needs to come apart and cleaned, lubed again, I started taking it down last week.
Decks aren’t as bad as some mention I’ve seen. Mines about .010 on each deck out, but .095-.105 down the holes, so need to take the block in, etc.

Anyways, I’ll have some question for the forums coming this weekend.

How about some pictures of your hot rod?
Well, the truck is somewhat buried and not photo conducive. :).
I was going strong on it, then had to consolidate 3 large shops into one smaller shop. So piles and paths became second nature.

I just recently (last week) made a proper path:) to pull the heads on the 318, check some things, in order to figure out a direction and options to go.
I could find a pic of what it was in original form the speak of changes I made. Be back in a bit.

Here’s what it would look like. What I’ve done is picked up a ‘32 Plymouth rear axle to run steel 5 on 5.5 BP wheels, picked up a dropped 46-48 Ford Tube axle so I can run 5 on 5.5 BP wheels on it. Track width was pretty much dead on.

Most of my time was focused on the cab, lots of hammer and dolly work, shrinking and patch panels I had to fashion up.

The hood is in near new shape, front and rear fenders need love. A bit of time with a shrinking disc will take care of the bedsides.
Because I know my painting limits, I’ll spray it in HR black blitz.
