I know it will be too difficult to do a Hyper Pak. But on this 65 Valiant, we're pulling the motor to do some engine bay work. The motor is a 66 170 running good, but just a stock setup 1bbl. I know it won't be anything major but I've got a 2bbl manifold and was wondering if I could make it work on this 65 Valiant. It's an automatic on the column with the cables for the shifter not rods. So I was reading that's a problem to adapt to the Super Six. As well as the kickdown. What all would I need to have for the Super Six upgrade?

The 65 still had linkage for kickdown. the shift cables were for park and the gear shift. So...yes....there's no reason you cannot make it work. You might have to do some fabbin here and there. Maybe CharlieS will chime in. He's real good on slants.

The super six setup will bolt right onto the engine. The problem is the linkages. Easiest way for throttle is a later style pedal and cable assy. Kick down linkage for the trans can be done with a "bought" kickdown cable, or fabbed from a motorcycle/bicycle brake cable. If your super six has the factory kickdown linkage, that will work, also.

I know on Slant Six.org it said to get the accelerator cable from a later M body. Is that like a Plymouth Fury or Diplomat? So if I get the kickdown linkage off of the Slant Six car would it be a bolt on deal? I'm not good at fabricating new brackets and stuff. So if it's too involved I'll just stay with the 1bbl.

Fist question is yes. But any cable operated A body will work as well. Its really not as hard as its sounds. the hardest part is getting the manifold off without breaking a stud. Start now (weeks in advance) using PB Blaster on the nuts and dont forget the one on the bottom in the middle. I would not use anything but PB Blaster.
