I have a manual steering box from a 68 cuda. It needs a new pitman arm and I was looking at rock auto. Problem is they only list power steering part but under pitman arm they dont specify manual or power. Is there a difference?

If there is it will be in the size (diameter) of the sector (output) shaft on the gearbox. There was a larger diameter introduced around 73 I believe, however b,c bodies and trucks used the larger diameter in the late 60's. I think in 68 they were both small.

also remember - if you plan on using it in your car and it is 73 or later the pitman arm and idler arm are different, they enter the center link from the opposite direction.

Well I'm not certain either, LOL, and as old as these old girls are, there's every possibility that the steering box is off of a later/ earlier model, too.

I've been told that IDing the late/ early manual boxes is easy

I dont see the difference! They are both shiny!! :sign5:... Im actually going to run out the the garage right now and look! Thanks for that pic! I saved it to my files for future reference.

in that pic the large sector gearbox on the right is a van piece. I have used one of those in an an A body with a bit of grinding to the box corner. There is also a large sector box that has the top plate oriented like the one on the left. It can be found in c bodies.
