Do you think this is a good 340 combination? This motor is for sale locally and I'm thinking I should buy it. Not sure yet how much mileage is on the motor, but I'm going to find out. What does he mean by water jack filled?

Well if the deck height is really 9.0 inches allot has been milled off. Stock is 9.59-9.60 so approx. .060 is milled off. Completely filling the water jacket isn't good for a street engine at all. Means no coolant can now flow around the cylinders. It's my understanding that you only do that on a race only block. You can partially fill a jacket on a street car but I'm not sure how much is ok. Maybe if I'm wrong somebody will correct me.

That's a whopper of a cam too especially with stock heads. Unless your running a 4,000 stall and low gears it won't have much guts on take off.

I'd keep looking but that's just me.

A half fill of the water jacket would be OK for the street.

I believe that Badger only makes cast pistons.

i would think that this has to be a miss print because that is .600 which would be over a half inch.

That is a lot of cam and... Schubeck lifters - tried TWICE .... I could not get them to live on he street - kept wearing down the lobes.

This is exactly the stuf I needed to hear. I didn't know about the deck height or the water jacket filling...this engine is not for me, that's for sure. Thanks a lot!

Stock stroke, stock bore, badger pistons and a hard fill????

Those things don't go together in my mind.

Sounds like it might have had a crack somewhere... in any event, filled blocks mean one of two things. You're running alcohol for fuel, or it's a coffee table.
