This should be a fairly simple question for someone to answer.

I have my idle set at 900 rpm, and it's pretty smooth. BUT when I place the car in drive or reverse, obviously the idle drops down, and and it really starts to lope, and isn't very smooth. Sometimes the car dies, and I have to restart it. The only thing I can do is increase the idle (I think)... but then in park, it will be idling at 1,000-1,100 rpm or so, just so I can keep it running at a stop sign.

I do have a lunati voodoo 60403 cam, is that just the cam that is crating that lope in drive, or is the carb or something not set right??

Thanks much!

I had the same problem. What distributor are you using? Check your timing in gear and out of gear. My springs were too loose and the mechanical adv was kicking in at idle.

It should idle fine at 12-20'something initial timing in neutral, that carb is pos. imo

I always skip those, they are lean and do not have a 4 corner idle.

the reason the car won't idle nice in gear is due to the convertor/cam combo.

Yes, I was told to get a Quick Fuel.... That was a lot more $$$$. So I stuck with this one. It was suppose to be good out of the box. It did run, but i ended up messing with it anyway.

What should the convertor/cam combo be to correct the problem?
