Is this normal?

Would appreciate some advice here. Take a look at these trunk pics and tell me if this was factory original. OR, do you think the trunk pan was replaced. Seems like alot of seam sealer, but perhaps that's how it came from the factory? This is a 39k mile car I just bought, so it could very well be original. little old lady drove it, etc. ,etc.

I can't see any pics but these cars were very poorly finished in the trunk.

Thin paint, dried painted over puddles from the dipping process and messy, slobbed on seam sealer are all normal.

Ok now I see the pics. Yes! 100% normal.

If you look in the ribbed sections (long, diagonal indentations far left and far right) you fill see where the stuff from the corrosion resistant dipping process never drained, dried and was simply painted over.

About the only thing out of the ordinary there is... no rust! That trunk looks super.

Yup my 69 looks like that. Chances are if the trunk pan was replaced they would have done a nicer job.

Yep! That trunk is super clean!!! I could only wish mine was that clean!!!

Just remember when looking at restored cars at shows… These cars are often WAY nicer than these cars were new back in the day (as far as body and paint at least).

Runs, drips, poor fit and finish, orange peal, thin paint, globs of seam sealer were all fairly "normal".

There is a guy around here with an all original 67, and the glue used for the trunk weatherstrip dripped all over and in the trunk, the inner fender paint is thin and full of drips, and so on.
