Now that the noise in neutral seems to be attributed to the input shaft bearing (with thanks to RedFish), I'm wondering how difficult it is to swap in a new bearing. Is that a DIY task, or is a specialized puller needed? Is it something a regular machine shop could pull, or do I need to deal with the transmission privateers?
