Got an email from a Mopar guy with a link to this website. I do need to Thank him.:cheers:

Working on restoring a 72 Demon 340. Don't know what type of air cleaner is correct. Single snorkel is what I think, but you guys are the gurus. Any help out there?

Welcome, Single snorkel is the correct air cleaner for a 72. Blue motor, orange air cleaner.

welcome aboard! aircleaner.. yes as adam said, also don't forget it has the little trap door on the bottom in the back also.....

I know the correct motor color is blue,,,,but I really like Mopar orange. Want to make it look stock, but not exactly. So do I need an air cleaner with no pie pan, just a 340 sticker?

Yes, 72 used the sticker, no pie tin. Be glad you dont have a 70 or 71. That air cleaner gos for $200 to $300

Thanks for responses. I'm still trying to navigate this site. It's way cool.

Heres a picture for you

That engine bay pic is just sick,,,,,,,,,Back to the drawing board.

I don't understand the last reply with the ? marks. Sorry, just joined today. Don't mean to offend anyone.

I am not offended - it's not my engine bay. I didn't understand your comment that it was "sick". Is that just an expression being used today?
C

I meant "sick" as gorgeous. Made me sick to look at mine. Needs lots of work.

Thats a word us youngsters use for very nice, LOL

Thanks for bailing me out Adam. I was confused. Guess I was just showing my age,,,,oops.

Also, I have a set of valve covers that i would like to use. I think they're from a 318. They have a tube that sticks up out of the valve cover for the breather and the oil is filled thru there.

Welcome, you made it, you won't regret it.

Just like "bitchin" used to mean (bad ***), but now is normally correlated to something Hillary Clinton is fonda doing. ha, ha...Fonda, I made a joke....

Yeah, that engine bay is sick in a healthy kinda way......dang, that looks good.

No problem. Those sound like earlier valve covers, 72s will look like the ones pictured above. Push in breather and oil fill on the passenger side and pcv on the driver side.

The engine bay I was referring to is the pic that Adam posted. And yeah, bitchin is a word I can relate to,,,,,I'm old,,,,,,don't ask.

Now I'm confused, whats the pie pan or pie tin you guys are talkin about that has something to do with the air cleaner??

The "pie tin" is a round metal plate that sits on top of the air cleaner & is held on by the wing nut. They usually state the engine size, similar to the decal on the pic AdamR posted.

Here ya' go, I found a pic.

Looking at the auction its not a real 72 340 air cleaner. No vacuum door on the bottom.

Not bad, a newbie with a serious question and there's over 20 replys helping him out. Try THAT over at some of those BIG NAME MoPar specific sites!

Welcome aboard! If your doing anything related to A Body Mopars your in the right place. Check out my photo gallery in my signature and you'll see we share similar interests in multi-carb induction systems! 8)

BTW: You didn't find us through an e-Bay auction by any chance? I used to include this link in my auctions whenever I sold something relating to an A Body.
