just picked up some more equipment

A new precision valve grinder. what a difference . and a precision tool lathe for making our own Valve seats and valve guides. We are going for some type of hob machine on saturday. 4 in the country. He is going to start making is own distributor/oil pump helix gears to make different Diameters to get rid of the play.

I didn't know this but there are only 2 companies the have machines to grind the drive gears in the camshafts That is what takes so long to get a new cam core. There are none being used in the usa. All the new machines come from china and the bearings are cheap junk. Finding an old machine to rebuild is like finding hens teeth.

We also bought Bill Mitchels line bore machine that he was using to make his 16 cylinder small blocks. His partner died and we bought it from his son at the end of Long Island. It will do a 5 foot block.

Been working on this small shop 60 x 32 basically a 4 car garage, We made and installed 2 over head cranes. The two story large building is next 100 x 60 It has an overhead crane in it already. That is where the big equipment is.

It won't be long and all the shop equipment at my place will start getting moved. Can't wait. All the auto restoration equipment is staying here. I'll get some pictures of what was left at this shop. All the parts are going I am keeping what I need for one car.


My daughter lives here now and works for Steve doing head work. He has hired Vo-tech kids. You would not believe the red tape to get that approved.

We have been traveling all over the states to try and find good like new equipment. Many engine machine shops are closing up. He is making good money but he is spending it just as fast.

He wants to start making all his own parts . Soon he'll have all different diameter bronze oil pump drive gears.

That hardinge lathe is an excellent brand lathe, accurate and extremely rigid.

Nice shop and equipment. One of my best friends shop was in the massive flood we had Sept. 27th with Hurricane Helene. His equipment is rebuildable, but at 81...he says he's just not up for it. He's going to fix his Serdi machine, valve grinding machine and surface grinder and go home and do heads in his home garage. He's selling his big vertical mill, his other 2 smaller mills, Sunnen CV 616 honing machine, Sunnen CK21 diamond honing machine, his balancing equipment, and his Super Flo Dyno. It was all under 14' of water, but is repairable. His racing customers are losing the best engine machine shop in our area, but he has name your price job offers at several other shops locally. He put a lot of the big name drivers in NASCAR into the winners circle in the 70's and 80's. He ain't ready to go sit in the recliner yet, which I'm glad! It sounds like your son enjoys the work as much as my friend has. Hopefully, he will enjoy his career machining and building engines like Ben has.
