A- body 67-72 are the calipers the same from left to right? Can you swap side to side or are they different. THanks:thankyou:

AFAIK, The only difference is in the bleeders. You can't bleed them on the car if the bleeders are on the bottom.
In a pinch you could remove the upside down caliper, turn it bleeder up,bleed it, then re-install it.

I have wondered if a left (or right) could be drilled tapped etc to have a bleeder on both sides. I guess you would have to machine for the hose as well.

Not worth the effort, labor time, for machining to do anything like that, as long as calipers are still available to be found and purchased.
They are getting pretty hard to find these days, but with some searching they can be found, in rebuildable condition, or already rebuilt.

If by chance, you're looking for calipers, look in the for sale section of this forum.
I can set you up, with a rebuilt pair of them, or just a left single.
Well, i no longer have a pair of calipers that i can sell.
They SOLD this afternoon.

Also 65, 66 and maybe 67? Mustangs, don't know if there is a difference in the machining or casting

Yes there is.
Mustang calipers are different than Mopar calipers in the way the the Ford caliper uses a rubber flex line hose, and the Mopar uses a metal hard line, and the machining differences between the two.

I believe the ford ones used a different thread for the line connection.

Depending on the year of the Ford caliper 3/8 or 7/16.
You don't use Ford parts like that on a Mopar caliper, and then you don't use Mopar parts on a Ford caliper.
Basically the same caliper, but with differences between Ford, & Mopar.

Pictures:
Ford, on the top.
Mopar, on the bottom.

Not in the Ford caliper picture, is the crossover hard line.
That IS the same for both Ford & Mopar.

OK I borrowed this picture from forum I would call this a rear mounted caliper right? On the Rock Auto site on the Cardone KH calipers they ask if the application is rear or front mounted calipers? Did they make a front mount system for A bodies? Cardone # 184406 Im confused:BangHead:

No such thing as a front mount Kelsey Hayes 4 piston caliper brake system on any of the A body cars.
Always towards the rear.

And i'm not familiar with Rock Auto asking anything about front or rear mounting calipers?
That's a new one on me.
Dunno?

thanks for the reply ya I thought the same don't know what Rock autos been smoking LOL Thanks

So the only difference between a right and left side caliper is the bleeder location?

The "bends" of the caliper crossover, metal hard lines, are different too, for left and right side calipers.
Another reason that there is a right, and a left, side caliper.
