Colt are you talking about CNC ported heads out of the box from the manufacture of the heads? Or hand ported heads from a custom porter?
Thought I better ask because I have seen some pretty impressive cfm numbers from the custom shops.

Max ported etc #

Just scheming for new build next year and trying to prepare can use iron or alum but want the highest flowing LA cyl head NOT USING OFFSET ROCKERS and engine will be 340 inches single 4 barrel roller motor with lots of compression 1/8 mile manual trans not street motor thanks .

Get the TFS heads, have them sent to a head porter, and I would still bet they'll be you're best option given your requirements.

  • Out of the box fully ported, I'd go with Promaxx.
  • If folks can have them reworked, then no way to know... different levels of talents that can port, weld, move push rod holes, etc.

In order;
TF’s
ProMaxx CNC

Cost wise, reverse the order.
ProMaxx CNC
TF’s

Iron heads? Wow! Talk to a pro porter and see what they have done and can get. The aftermarket LA heads are super hard to find but do very well.

You may try to get a hold of Rod Bloomer and see where he is at with his cylinder head program

Sounds to me that you probably will quite dissapointed as i'm not really following your thought process as to leaving out offset rocker arms because without that you will not build anything overly impressive.

Dave @ KG Engines in OH claims he can CNC factory X heads and get 280 cfm @ .650 lift for $750
I have checked him out with a couple of sources and they all said he does very nice work.
I am thinking of have my X heads done this fall when I remove them to swap out my jagged up hyd roller lifters.

You will also be limited to how much of lots of compression that a standard configuration head gasket will be able to hold....

He revamped his stuff from photo (cc) change but yes he is a top choice but ones pictured have off-Set rockers trying to not use them.
He is very talented individual nevertheless

Any specific reason to stay with non offset rocker heads? Is there a specific et or horsepower goal?

You may want to talk to Larry Smith in Nc, it looks like he is reworking a set trick flow small block heads, and see what he thinks the potential is

I got some pro-maxx heads going to the a porter soon...I will report the results but hoping to get them over 300cfm
