Question for anyone. Is the Crank from a 93 magnum 360 able to be used in a 74 LA 360? Basically are the journal sizes the same? Found out I have a bad crank in my motor and I have a Magnum that I would like to be able to use as a donor. Any help would be appreciated!

You should be able to use it but I would do a little more research before I commited myself. The journal sizes are the same and I believe that they are balanced the same too.

Good luck.

Thanks, I figured I could use the Magnums Harmonic Balancer and flex plate. I posted this question on a few other boards and I got another person saying it should be fine also. But i'm with you. I'll just wait a bit and check with as many people as possable before I waste a set of bearings.

I lined them both up and they seem like they're happy together. Torque converter and such. I have a 727 small block trannie I think ill put in at this time as well. figure I could kill 2 birds with one stone.

The balance is differant but if you use the balancer and a B&M flex plate for the Magnu engines I dint see a problem.

sweet. I have the original flex plate for the magnum, and an aftermarket one on the Crank now in the 360, I'll just have to price a B&M then.

What if he used the magnum flex plate and balancer? Aren't the holes for the Tq the same?? maybe they aren't i haven't tried swaping...

Youd have to use a Magnum torque converter if you used the Magnum flex plate. The converter is balanced. If he uses the B&M flex plate ($75 from Mancini Racing) he can use a unbalanced converter.

Well. I have 2 torque converters, one in the 904 thats in the car that was behind the 74 360, and one in my 727 trannie that was also behind the 74 360. So both torque converters are for a externally balanced motor. But to play it say. I'll get that B&M flex plate. Beter safe then sorry ;) besides, i'd rather pay $75 insteal of $300 for a crank, and bearings.

I'm thinking of putting the 727 in now. might as well. ;)

The early 360 and the Magnums are balanced differant though so what you need to do is get the B&M flex plate and knock the wieghts off of the converter that you decide to run.
