My new toy has ladder bar with leaf springs what do you guys think, I am not sure how this will work on the street. I know this is the racer forum but I think you guys will have better uderstanding of this stuff.

Car is 69 cuda 440 4/speed dana 60 4.56 gears.

I will be driving mostly on the street but take to track once in awhile.

Should I stay with the ladder bar setup and maybe add coilovers or take
the bars off and throw some /6 leaf springs, caltracs, qa1's.

Just trying to get some good input on which way to go. Any thoughts would help.

No, it,s an old setup had floater but that was frozen up so was taken off. Now it's just old bars and shocks very stiff.

When using ladder bars with a leaf spring rear suspension, the axle housing cannot be rigidly attached to the springs. If it were, severe binding of the rear suspension would occur because the Ladder Bar and the leaf spring both travel in separate competing arcs. By allowing the housing to rotate and glide on the leaf spring, the Floating Housing Mount eliminates the bind and allows the Ladder Bars to work the way they were designed.

Thanks thats good to know, just starting to learn this stuff hope to get it right the first time and not waste alot of money on the wrong setup.

I'd put a shock crossmember in and run coil overs and a locator.

That's IF the rest of the work is good.

if I go with coilovers will they clear fuel tank (stock)?

I thought about 4 link, but this is a stickshift street car and I'm not sure how that combo would work on the street, wouldn't that be a harsh ride and alot of mait.
