Ya just have to find the right secluded spot, lunch and wine a little romance goes a long ways. Like they say happy wife happy life
Would be nice to find the right wife. Been single for all most 20 years now and haven't found the right one yet.

Mine probably makes 100 miles. Would like to drive it more but have to find 600 extra bucks for safety glass can’t safely it with out and Mark tells me it’s dangerous to drive it with the original plate glass. The key phrase is extra as if you ever have an extra $600. So until then I’ll be satisfied taking the wife to the small river 8 miles by gravel rd from here and have a picnic maybe some fishing and what not the what not is the best part.
The only way it's legal is if the car is only used for parades or car shows with a Historical plate on it as far as I know. Personally I would change it regardless. Not worth it.
To do a door glass on a "A" is so simple. There is a mldg on top of the door held on by I think it's 4 screws (maybe 3 it's been a long time since I've done one) There is also a mldg at the bottom of the glass opening. Take that off and simply wind the door glass out through the top (BTW if the mldgs have straight headed screws the car was built in the U.S. if they have Robertson it was built in Canada) That's what I was told by Fawcett Motor Carriage.

Have to be real careful these days. Some of these woman are only out for what they can get out of you. But there are genuine ones out there also.
Take her out for a chili and if you can stand each then you've found the right one LOL

Yes you are correct my car which is Canadian built uses Robertson screws where required not only in windowframes. The serial # also starts CAA 12345. After you told me of this I found a plate glass windshield that was cracked propped it up and threw a rock at it wow scary. It’s getting nearer to the top of the list that’s for sure. What is a midg?

Safety glass was designed I believe in 1934 by the wife of a Dr. She was in a car accident and got cut up really bad. It was then mandated that every car coming out of the factory had safety glass.
A lot of the older cars coming from Europe had a tempered w/shield just like the backglass and side windows. I've gone to replace one to find half the windshield still in place and the other side shattered. It was designed like that so if the windshield broke the other half could be seen out of. Try driving with a face full of glass.

There is a name etched into the windshield I just can’t remember right now what it is but it’s not ford

It might be LOF (Libby Owens Ford)
Any safety glass has two different ratings. AS1 or AS2. AS1 is used in the windshield and AS2 in the back glass or door glasses. It the thickness of the vinyl that gives it the rating

What about the thickness of the glass. Is that something that needs to be addressed?

No the difference in minimal. How are the felts that glass runs up and down in?. That stuff can be bought no problem. Does the back window slide up and down or stationary? The windshield goes into the frame with a cork packing. Could use other things now been out of it too long. I'd leave that to the glass shop to put it in the frame. Everything else you can do. I wish you lived closer I'd love to help you.

The old man and I replaced all the window packing and felts the door windows run in the back window and side windows are frame mount same as windshield. Had it all apart before just so long ago and I was probably only about 15 years old.

Just thinking about it. Might be AS2 that has to be used in the windshield and AS1 everywhere else. Like I say it's been a long time. Thinking at least 35 years at least.

So you're at least familiar with it which helps but like I said it's pretty simple.
