Not going to hand crank it to start it Mark I learned my lesson years ago I have 2 new starters and the new battery will be here around Tuesday next week.
You remember the wall hanger I have in my Garage? it was a 36 volt generator at one time a 2 cylinder engine that I tried to get running and it back fired and I was hand cranking it. Laid my *** on the ground and will never do that again.
I think our grand dads could have handled it but not me.

I put the old generator on the shop wall to remind me to never try to start an engine with a hand crank.
And it may not be all that great of a wall hanger but I like it.

Yup the men that came before us were alot tougher. Too bad the kids now days need a crying room when there feelings are hurt.

My buddy was over with his bobcat telling me a story about there apprentice mechanic, a full grown young man got stung by a wasp , he called his mom ! To come help him , pussy is all I got to say! And at work none the less omg ! Cf could you imagine calling your mom to come out to the field cause you got stung by a bee..

Morning guys....looks like a beautiful morning out there. Got the ac off and windows open and on here and listening to Classic Rock (Q107 FOG)
Went to the car show at the local airport and it was overcast but was a little humid. I was parked beside my friend's original Model A and I sat between the two cars because the A gave me perfect shade. Glad it wasn't a roadster. Came home at 12:30 had a quick lunch then spent the rest of the afternoon cutting grass and cleaning up. Could have used your combine CF as it was quite long. Have a great day guys.

We're on the same track Fred only I'll listen to Classic Rock instead of reading. Not one for burying my nose in a book. Never have been, I just wait for the movie LOL

I can't here very well so a book works better.
I have about 6 books on repairing the model A so was gonna read them. Thank God it's simple to work on.
I put some diesel fuel in the cylinders like you suggested and will try to turn it over today by hand.
I don't have the hand crank yet so will weld up an old 3/4 drive extension to fit the cogs in the flywheel.

Had a better idea I found a china made socket drilled a hole through it and put a solid hunk of rod in it put my breaker bar on it and she was not stuck bad, turns over by hand now.

Funny you mention being stung. Last week I was getting ready to go work a field. When I started the 88 I found hornets built a nest in the tree next to it. I was stung 4 times before backing away. It burned like hell but I continued and went to the field.

I remember a few years back my neighbour had a tree out back , it had a huge paper nest hanging in a branch about seven feet off the ground , he decided he was he was going to cut the branch and get rid of it , well he didn't get a ladder and cut from the top, he used a chain saw and cut from the bottom , well low and behold the branch pinched the chain saw and it was stuck so he tried to get it out , all of a sudden here come this swarm of wasps . Let me tell you I have never seen any one run that fast before. He had welts all over ! Funny things you always remember..lol.

I wait till it gets dark and they are in the nest asleep. get a garbage bag and enclose the nest in it very carefully tie it shut and then cut the branch.
And to dispose of it I take it over to a shitty neighbors house and hang it on his front porch. LOL
