That is the answer. Back then people did not drive far from home. People didnt actually travel until interstates were built. Back when that truck was built they did not even have gravel roads just plain dirt that was 2 track full of ruts and slop when it rained.

I believe it CF and no one was in a hurry. Kinda surprising they didn't live longer back then with all the slow pace and better food.

It has been my experience that any job you do is worth doing well ? Am I wrong ?

It's a good job the running gear is in good shape or your walking gear would have to be. LOL
The humidity has finally gone for a couple of days but back on the weekend. Last 3 day weekend of summer coming up and the kids are back to school again. Went to the car show last night but didn't stay long maybe an hr because there was a huge black cloud above. I got home and then it just spitted enough to dampen the ground. My car was in the garage so now I don't have to clean it up. Heading to another one out of town this evening. Rumour has it that this will be the last one for the year for this one But I think it's a little early yet. It is a good show and has great prizes. We'll all bring our wives so they can have a gabfest. Have a great day Fred

I really thought I would have had a break down so I took extra parts and tools, lucky me.
I would have liked to go to some car shows but they were to far away. going to the drags on Sat. so will ready my car on Fri. I decided not to use the nitros I don't want my boy using it without some practice first.
Getting ready to work for my son in law today I haven't driven semi in 3 years I sure hope I remember how.

Just like riding a bike Fred. Won't take long and you'll be right at home. Just watch out for the idiots on the road. Some figure because it has 18 wheels you can stop on a dime.
Not a fan of nitrous or Turbos...always like a blower not only for the horsepower but the looks and the sound as well. Have you ever seen what happens when a turbo lets go? Totals the whole motor.

Same here Mark I want to put a blower on my car someday and agree the nos is kinda scary would hate to trash my engine.
 
I blew a turbo in a semi once and toasted the engine cost over 25,000 to rebuild it.
Going to get the semi now you have a good day Mark.

Well Biff ,people say I'm a perfectionist ,everything has to be done right even if I'm slow. So I say yes ! But there are other opinions out there ! So you can't really go by me ! My son says I'm a hard person to work with...lol

Well Fog better to do it right the first time. Sometimes we have to rush to get things done and no one likes that but if the boss says it needs to be done asap I do my best to do it right and will tell him all the mistakes I made and let him deiced what to do even if I don't like it.
But I am so close to retiring I can give the boss doo doo and In my garage it's done my way. well unless some one has a better idea.
You can be a hard person to deal with all you want my friend you have that right being a father and also an old fart.:poke:.

I was able to keep the shiny side up Mark but was hard getting in a truck I never drove before that was loaded to 94,000lbs and a 10 speed tranny that I haven't used in 10 years. I did grind a few gears though.
Went through a DOT inspection and I passed witch doesn't happen very often, off loaded and drove 200 miles and picked up another load and drove another 200 miles to off load and found out I can't off load till tomorrow some time because they found out at the last minute they had no room for what I had on my truck. Well came back home and will off load tomorrow and that is the life of a truck driver and all truck drivers know the the saying ( hurry up and wait )
Had a good day Mark because it all happened within 100 miles of my house and no traffic jambs.

I had a good time FOG and now that I can drive it again I get to take my older grand kids with me to keep me company. I off load in Devils Lake and the last load I can slip into Wal Mart with the semi and do my shopping and not have to drive my car there and waist my gas.
 
Wow I could stay in Wal Mart parking lot when not driving the semi and work as a Wal Mart door greeter. :bs_flag:
