I'm getting ready to pull the engine and transmission from my car to have it sent out to the body shop. The dash, steering column, and wiring have been removed from the interior. I would like to start engine one last time, but am uncertain where to jumper in a battery, I have a push button to turn starter over and a fuel can to run to fuel pump. Do I need to disconnect the alternator?

What year car? The easiest way is a points distributor wired to the battery, then jump the starter relay on the fender. Dont need the alternator but you cant run it long without the water pump turning. TO shut it off pull the wire from the battery (+).
