Let's see your air cleaner

Wouldn't fit. Had to use an airhat from a ZJ Grand Cherokee.

It's either a Dakota or Durango air hat and a K$N cone style filter. I need to fab a bracket to secure it. One thing at a time! LOL

Check these out! I would have to cut a hole in the hood. Didn't want to do that! You don't have a lot of choices. LOL

This is what I came up with. All came from a 2002 Dodge Dakota R/T. Engine is a 5.9 from the same truck.

That's a nice setup, Easyrider. I have the same airbox, but didn't want to move the horns. Also, the Durango radiator that I used is wider than the a-body radiator.

Infecteddog, what did you do for the actual filter element?
Exactly like in the '68coupe's picture. I forget if it's a Spectre or K&N but it's just an inexpensive cone filter. I didn't have the room for the airbox and have the IAT in the intake tube- it's got a solid tube.

If you used the cone type filter, how did you secure it? I need to fabricate a brace for mine and would like to see pictures of yours. Actually, I would like to see pictures of anybody else's engine compartment to see how they located different pieces.

That's a great looking setup there Tom. Thanks for the pics and the idea! It's looking to me like my air cleaner is not going to clear the hood, due to the height of my intake manifold (Weiand Action Plus) will your setup work on a carb as opposed to an EFI?

My pictures show the 4-bbl air cleaner on my EFI. The air hood on a carb should be no problem.

1994 Grand Cherokee hat with an AEM 21-2113BF filter. I did the math on how much surface area the Jeep's stock filter had and this filter has slightly more surface area. (they offer 3 different sizes for the 3.25" inlet size)

It doesn't move since the pipe's solid and attached to the air hat with clamps. Might be a bit small filter but at present I'm fairly tight on space and if it doesn't hit one thing it'll hit another.

The carb had more clearance, I was able to run a stock air cleaner with it on this intake. (M1 4bbl MPFI)

What is your setup? Is that an a-body? Man, you have everything crammed in there! I see the cruise control over on the side. I also noticed the dual belt system instead of serpentine.

F, cruise control's out now since it didn't work. If I use cruise later it'll be the electric that came on the Magnum trucks and... works. pre-Mag 360 block, Mag heads, the aforementioned M1, pre-Mag front cover, pre-Mag valve covers, and you can see the A/c, P/s, p/b, stock replacement radiator. Right now I've got pre-Mag manifolds on it, but the headers will be going back onto it. Currently it's got a 904 behind it and tall gears. Pretty sure I want to be an A500 for it and go to 4.10s.
