I built a 360, retrofitted the magnum heads on an LA block following the articles from Mopar Muscle and Ma Mopar. Using all the parts from Mopar including lifters and pushrods. Now I have the engine running and there is a 'tick' noise that circulates through the valve covers, and about 80% of the time.
I have checked the exhause and there are no leaks, lifters don't seem to be bleeding down either. I've been told to replace lifters anyway, check pushrod length, try 30 wt oil.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,
Eric

I'm guessing it is an issue with pushrod length/head gasket thickness. The article I read they shaved the heads a bit and used a composite gasket. I'm not sure where that leaves you in the area of pushrod length though. The 1.6 rocker ratio will work the lifters pretty hard so the heavier oil may be the ticket also.... My $0.02

I`ve had bad luck with MP hydraulic lifters. I bought a set for my bb and had one that wouldn`t pump up. I had to replace it. Another set I bought for my sb is ticking and has since day one. I`ll probably have to replace it too. Quality control must be horrible on these MP products. Chinese?
