73 Dart, w/360, MSD coil and box. Have a new (remanned) alternator (55 amp) and new voltage regulator both from NAPA. With engine warm and idling, turn the lights on, and they dim badly, give it some gas and they brighten up. The amp meter in the cluster is down to about negative 10. Anyone have an idea to the problem and a fix?

Thanks,
Eric

Unfortunately that's normal for most older Mopars. I think the only fix is to get a more modern alternator and use heavier gauge wiring and trash the factory ammeter gauge and get a volt meter. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

55 amp altenater should be plenty for stock headlamps, etc..
Your problem is current flow or the lack of . Most common faults have been found and addressed. First check the simple stuff like ground connections at firewall and engine block.
Find the madelectrical web pages related to the bulkhead connecter faults.
sorry I dont have that link handy.
