As my other thread suggests, I may be buying a 66 Barracuda. From this forum and elsewhere a few questions ocurred to me. Fuel in my area is rated 95 and sometimes 97 octane. Will a 10.5.1 compression motor deal with that level of unleaded fuel?
Secondly, aside from trim and panels what mechanical parts are hard to get, i'm thinking suspension, brakes and steering parts?
thanks for the info!

I used my '65 barracuda w/ a 10.5 comp 340 in it as a daily driver for a while and it's livible solong as you can pay for the gas. with 95 or 97 RON gas you should be fine, in Cali we can only get crappy 91 and I was able to run the 340 on it alright.

As for parts alot of places like Napa still carry alot of the parts that you would need to keep it on the road. If not, many other later A-body parts can work sometimes. Body and trim parts can be a pain but stuff comes up on ebay and forums from time to time.

Hope that helps

thanks for that,Spamalope. 91 octane, that is low!

Allthough the HP 273 in my 66 Dart is well worn I use 91 octane BP Ultimate
Premium without a problem. Don't expect pro-stock performance and keep the initial timing around 10 degrees and you should be ok. toolmanmike

wow, could be a shock, i set initial at 16 deg on my 360, but compression is only 9.1
