I believe it was on this forum that a member posted a photo of his early Gen III heads that he modified by welding up the quench pads in the combustion chambers to raise compression.... anyone have in on who this was? Or have a photo of those heads?

Thanks.

Never heard of that. What kind of compression you looking for?

You can swap eagle heads onto the early G3 for a decent compression boost. Needs new pushrods to make it work.

Pretty simple procedure to get 12-1+ compression... saw photos of 'em either here or on another forum. I'm looking for about 13 1/2-1 for methanol.

If I build a 345-ish block I'm not sure how much I'd gain going to Eagle heads since the older 5.7's really flow pretty good... back in the day my Ford 351-C's ran better in my 400 HP dirt car with the smaller 2 bbl heads than the big 4V heads I had... If you spun 'em up real high and had more cubes all bets were off but under 7K the 357 with smaller heads just performed better.

The kink in the rules is my home track is now limiting the engine combo I was going to run to 'no porting/polishing'.... they are making an effort to get the big $$$ engines into the 'open class' where you need to run a restrictor plate. Right now there are some very stout 750HP deals out there getting a weight break. We still have a few guys who have to run on a serious budget and this new rule might help.

My LA 383 has some pretty well hogged out W2's but, in reality, I doubt they get torn down to get checked... they will likely just dismiss my Mopar engine as just an oddity. The Hemi may get a second look... they've never seem one.
