Looking to install B&M sport shifter in my 73 Valiant

So I have decided to install a B&M sport shifter in my 73 Valiant. From what it looks like after reading the instructions its simple. But cable routing pictures would be nice then the diagram they give. Has anyone installed this shifter before? I am running headers in my car as well and worry about melting the cable. Most B&M cables run from the front of the shifter, but the one I got runes from the back

My other question is when it comes to removing the Column shifter, is there anything else that needs to be removed that may lock the steering wheel?

Figured it out, though might get myself a longer cable since it feeds out the back on this shifter.

Saw this as an issue in multiple forums, and was looking last night on a good solution. I think I am going to go with that style heat sleeve.
