loose rear view mirror. 73 dart

what should I do to tighten up my mirror. the "ball" on the end or the rod that fits in the mounting socket is loose & it wont hold a position. Thank you for your time. RR

Take it off of the roof where it’s mounted and then you can tighten it more while it is off.

I think 2 screws on the back side of mount holds a little steel cup tight to the ball I have flattened out cup some to tighten up on ball.

Yup, pull that 3 hole steel plate, squeeze it a bit (don't get carried away) in a vice, lube the ball, and re-install.

Òr maybe cut a small square pc of rubber from a rubber glove and put that between the ball and the retainer after straighening the retainer.

I just removed it all I had to do was tighten 1 screw good as new,sorry for hi jack the org poster.cheers
