I'm new to the mechanical side of auto work and I am hoping some of you may be able to help me out.

First about the car, it's a 74 Dart four door with a 2 barrel 318 and torqueflite trans. The problem I'm having is that when the car gets up to temp, approximately 1/2 between low setting and hot, the car will sometimes lose fuel and die. When this happens the car is very difficult to start sometimes having to wait long periods and several attempts at cranking.

I have a clear fuel filter installed and I noticed that the filter is going completely dry when this happens. What do you guys think, fuel pump or some other issue that I'm not aware of?

I hate to throw parts at a problem guessing for a solution. Any help is appreciated.

Chk all the rubber between the tank and the carb for wet spots or collapsed spots first.
Might want to just go ahead and replace the rubber depending on how old it is.
While you are doing that you might find another filter that needs changed.

Then go for the fuel pump if it still does it.
