Would this car benifit from a low gear set in the 727 torqueflite?
Car 60' 1.65.
1/4 11.83 @ 113

440
.030 Forged 11:1 pistons, steel crank, MP .590 lift solid cam, 906 heads ported , Crane Gold roller rockers. Edelbrock TM-7 intake, 850 Holley. 4.10 rear.

This is in a Demon with a 12pt cage, no weight on the car, but it is fairly complete.

It should net a quicker 60' if it didn't create tire spin. A quicker 60' time will net a quicker ET.

The gear sets are suppose to be for heavier cars, but, I figure it would effectively increase the gear ratio at launch.
I wonder if there would be a downfall to running it.

I run one, however have heard there isnt much of a gain.

Yes the gear ratio is closer 1-2, however it is now a steeper change between 2-3. Pretty much canceling out the low 1-2. Thats what i've heard, never got a back-to-back pull before i put mine in

This is what John Cope had to say.
Low gear sets work best in heavy slower cars. last year I installed a low gear set in a 11.20 Duster and it picked up .15 in et, I have always ran them in my car back in the day when running 10.50s, it made for nice wheelstands, so yes I feel you will pick up on 60 foot and ET
