Hi guys. I have a M1 dual plane intake for magnum heads and I was wondering what the threaded hole is for on the side of the water heated choke. Do you just put a plug in it? Is it just a bleeder or does it have a hose that comes off it in some applactions? Thanks, Bob

Hmm I have that intake too.I just kinda bought it,made sure it was useable and tucked it away.I'll have to check and see if mine has that!

Here's a photo of the hole. A temp. sender sounds like a good guess. But the intake is made for a carb and it has a hole for the sender by the heater hose in the normal small block posistion.

Is it threaded?
That intake is a near direct copy of the Comando M-1 and that's where the choke would go. It looks like the well is simply sealed with a breather hole.

Yea Rumble, The hole is threaded, looks to be a 3/8 pipe thread. The intake is water heated, meaning the hole is tied to the cooling system not to a vacuum source. I thought it was a air bleeder for the cooling system like on my Dodge truck

Bob, your saying that hole is connected to a water source. As in start up the engine and it will bleed, leak and spout water?
Are you sure about that?
I would, now just me, start up the engine and have plug in hand when it leaks.

If you were to flip the intake over you can see a cast in passage from the bottom of the thermostat to the box with the hole in it. I will put a plug in the hole before I fire it up.
I think they designed it this way because it doesn't have a heat crossover for the magnum heads, to heat the carb and make it more driveable in cold weather.

I've got one just like it. Mine has a plug in it. I thought it was for a heat activated choke. I have been known to be wrong though.

Mine has the plug too.I think that size of a hole with pip thread is normally for Vacuum.I couldnt really see any coolant passage leading to it though..
