I have been searching this swap but can't find exactly what I am looking for. I am thinking about a 5.9 magnum swap but want to run my 833 behind it. I want to do the same motor as on magnum swap.com carb and all. I got most of the swap stuff on previous posts just wondering about the 4 speed info.

1 can I use an la bell housing
2 do I get the MP flywheel Part Number # 312-P5249842
3 anything else I am not getting?

Just buy a McLeod weighted flywheel in 130 tooth and use a stock la bell housing.
That way if you ever change motors you still can use the flywheel.
Also use the newer pilot bushing that goes in the crank register.
Brewer's has all the parts.

Great thank you. I guess I was getting mixed up when reading the guys trying to run the EFI and a four speed.

you have to come up with some solution that gives you a 130 tooth flywheel with a 5.9 balance weight and has the magnum crank trigger slots in it.....and notch whatever bellhousing youre using to clear the crank trigger

He isn't planning to run EFI, so he doesn't have to worry about the slots or notching the bell. Looks like the above link gives him a 130T flywheel option with the proper balance, so he should be good.

fair warning you will have to cut around a half inch off the end of the input shaft using a dakota pilot bearing and 833 in a magnum

Huh?? Why? Only reason he would have to do that is if the crank isn't drilled, did they not drill the cranks for manuals on Magnums? I know they ran sticks in the trucks, so they had to do it to some of them. Never heard of having to do that to a magnum.

360s never came with a stick, maybe then it's an issue? but that swap(318 to 360)has been done to death in the manual trucks...

I had to cut about 1/2 inch off of my input shaft to mount my A230 to the magnum. The pilot bearings from the trucks fit the automatic crankshafts. Since the cranks aren't drilled for the input shaft length of an older stick, you have to cut them down. Mine works great.

I had to cut about 5/8" off the end of my input shaft, not a big deal. My motor is internally balanced with forged parts so I just used a neutral balance flywheel and then had the flywheel/clutch balanced together but if you order a 360 flywheel it comes with the weight because the older 360s were external balance the same as the 5.9. I got a used Lakewood bell and it works great. Just make sure whatever bell you get has the correct size bearing retainer hole because there are 3 sizes. I would recommend talking to Jamie at Passon over brewers he built my tranny and is way nicer and more helpful than brewers.

The LA 360 and Mag 5.9 are balanced different.
As I stated earlier use the McLeod flywheel and use the proper bolt on weight.

Ummmm........what?!

Might wanna actually learn about something before typing.

Well I'll be darned. I've only ever seen the 45 listed as behind diesels. Learn something new everyday.
