I recently purchased a used 408, heard it run, saw it drive all sounded good with the exception of a ticking lifter. So I'm in the process of going half way through it, different cam, new intake carb etc. So I just need to choose which brand of lifter. Melling, speed pro, and Crower were the choices I see readily available. Which ones you guys like? Running a BIG cam.

Did you first determine the cause of the ticking lifter? 65'

sorry u doin good if you put new lifters sir take time to soke them in break in oil then u will or may see bubles as in a plastic contaner take i small time while u build all of rest.

Measure/determine proper preload on lifters first, never soak hydraulic lifters in oil before installation. 65'

lifters only ticked for a minute or so after the car sat for a bit. Not really a major concern, just thought I'd put a new set in with the new cam. Don't want any problems and it will be apart.......

How "BIG" of a cam in terms of lobe lift are you installing. Make sure the oiling groove doesn't get exposed at max lift.

Just make sure they are installed the right way. There is a right way and backwards way to install those lifters. The oil hole points to the inside of the engine.

sir just about all lifters are perfict un less solids i have . they are old mopar 4 sale .
I just tried sending you a PM about the lifters you say that you have for sale, I get an error message. so yours are solids? For what engine? Send me a PM.

I run almost .600 lift with the stock lifters. I just pulled them apart gave them a good cleaning and let them soak in oil. Never had an issue and they have been in the engine for 10+ years.

Yup, they're actually the best lifters to run, but you caint tell people that. They just don't believe it.
