Howdy folks,

Has anyone tried to use the late model Magnum exhaust manifolds on a 67 Dart w/340. I am not wanting to use headers if I can help it. I have not found a set of 340 manifolds that I can aford and thought I might try to get a set of the Magnums if they would fit ok. Thanks

Brian

Hey Brian I haven't tried a set but I have a set and have eyeballed them and they look like they will fit my 68 Cuda so a Dart should be the same. I remember an article a couple yrs. back showing the early magnum manifolds flowing as well as the good 340 manifolds. When I say early I don't remember exactly what yr. they went to the smaller outlet but I think it was 94 or 95. The early ones had a 2-1/4 outlet and the later ones only had a 2" outlet. The later ones of course lost some horsepower. I'm gonna try a set on my 68 Cuda in a couple of months when I get it together for break-in. Hopefully they fit. Good luck with yours.

it's the 1992-1993 manifolds. may have a problem on the driver's side getting around the steering column.

I run them on my Valiant. When I first mocked up my motor in my Valiant, I used a set of j heads on a 68 318 block, and I could not get them to fit, so I just planned on using the stock manifolds for the car. Then when I put the 65 273 with magnum heads in, I thought I better try it again, as maybe I was tired when I first tried it a year earlier, it went right in, and cleared nicely. they are rear dump, so if you run a clutch, it will hit the z bar, and I spose an auto column linkage would hit too. I am running a hydro release bearing so I was able to run the manifolds with no worry.
Mine are off of a 96, and they have 2 inch outlets, I planned on running two inch into a single three anyways, so no need for a bigger outlet manifold.
If you are running the studs on the ends of the head, I am pretty sure you wouldnt be able to get them on while the engine is in the car, as its pretty tight.

I like the idea of the magnum manifolds. But I am looking for shorty headers. I wonder if the shorty replacement headers for the early magnums would work. Anybody try these.

The passenger's side Magnum exhaust manifold will clear okay on an 'A' body, but the driver's side MUST use manaul steering, as the bottom side hits the power steering box by quite a bit.
I don't think grinding to get clearance would overcome this.

And, NO, a Jeep Grand Cherokee driver's side Manifold will NOT work on an 'A' body to clear the steering gear.
In actuality, it's worse.

Mark.
