I have the intake off and as you might or might not see in the picture there has been some porting done to my heads by a previous owner. I have the D4B intake. Would it be a good idea to port it to match the heads or should I leave it as it is? I have time to do it, but I never done it before though. Here's my setup:
273 Commando - 1965
Cam: Solid lifter Comp Cams Magnum 282S - 282/282 Lift 495/495
Beehive Springs
Edelbrock D4B intake / Street Demon 625 carb
PerTronix Ignitor II Billet distributer & Flame Thrower coil
Hooker Headers
2.5" Dual Exhaust / Super 44 Flowmaster
727 auto / Shift Kit
10" Turbo Action Street "S-800" converter
8 3/4 - 3.55 - SureGrip

as long as you dont plan on selling that intake in the future, sure, certainly wouldnt hurt your performance

IMHO, if your head ports are slightly bigger than your intake ports, you probably won't see any real difference. I personally would worry over it only if I was full racing or if the step was large.

In times past, some slight step down from intake to head ports has been advocated as a way to reduce reversion into the carb. I have no idea how well this ever worked.....and your cam is not all that wild.

I have always matched the ports to the intake gasket on the heads. On the intake I match the top and sides. I leave the bottom of the intake untouched for anti-reversion, thinking if the air flow tries to sneak along the bottom of the port it will get kicked up by the step. The Mopar Performance manual says the best flow is on the top and divider wall side of port. Every time I do a set of heads I swear I gain 2 mpg???

Thanks for the input guys. I'll do some measuring on the head today and get back before I do anything.

I will not be doing anything. It turns out they already match up real good actually.
