Is there any way of measuring for length without having an assembled engine ? I am thinking about trying a different set of heads . Valves are longer in the ones I want to try. Everything else is the same. Edelbrock intake #9366 OAL = 4.980 , exh # 9367 OAL= 5.00. New heads - Erson # 2106 & # 2004 both OAL = 5.025.

Intake longer by .045 Exh longer by .025 Enough difference for concern ? Too much difference for adj rockers to make up ? Thanks all. -Mike

Not if you want it correct.

Why do you think professional engine builders charge 1500 and up to assemble an engine?

I’ve had mine together in various stages close to a dozen times. I’ve cleaned it several times times.

I now am ready to do a down fill to verify compression ratio, then it’s degrees the cam and measure for pushrod length. Then it comes back apart, gets cleaned to hell and back.

Then it gets assembled, assuming I don’t have to fix or change something.

Pushrod length is not a place to try and cut a corner.
