My engine is a 383/915 heads, 10:1 comp. Eddy RPM intake. 4-speed car.
Almost all of the mechanical advance ( 31 degrees) comes in at 1400 rpm. In generally, is this normal or way too early? Or does this vary depending on each build?
How will a engine react if the mech advance comes in too early? Detonation or....??

on a street car yes thats usually too early. you have the springs laying around still? if so put the lighter of the two light springs in place of either the missing spring on one of the real light ones in there now. should birng the total in around 2200 rpm.

i like to have it all come in for criuse rpm. in my case i have it all in around 1500 it seems to work ok.
