74Dusted
Stock Piler of 340's
Stopped by Oldmanmopar's place today to buy some goodies for my '71 Demon Project.
Found an ad online and when I called I didn't even know he was also on here, Made the arrangements to meet up Saturday morning since the boss/my dad wanted to pick up a TV in Philly, and some parts elsewhere, etc. So I hauled in some junk (about 5 tons of it, my old D300 Dumptruck didn't break a sweat though, happily hummed along at 65 mph with the whine of the NP435 and the engine pulsing.) And had more cash than I originally planned on having.
But I wasn't about to drive a 1975 318/435/Dana 70 D300 Dumptruck with 4.88 gears on a trip like that, so i borrowed a friend's Cheby 3500 Boxtruck.... 150 miles from home (return trip) the secondary battery started to smoke (at the fuel pumps none the less! Quickly disconnected the battery), followed by the turbo crapping out once we got back on the highway.. Should have taken my dodge instead, lol!
So, I got myself a '71 Grille (with Bezels & Turn Signals/Parking Lights), a Tail Panel & Tail Lights, A pair of Door Emblems that weren't broken (like mine were). Oldmanmopar pulled out a huge stack of emblems and told me to pick the ones i liked best.
And then we talked for about an hour while i drooled over his huge collection of parts and line up of cars. Also, his Display Picture doesn't do that Duster the justice it deserves. It is simply marvelous in person.
But the boss had a deadline to meet, so i had to cut the visit short, and we were back on the road after a firm handshake to finish the deal up proper. I'll be going back in the near future (with less scheduled "stops" that day) to get myself a Rallye Cluster for my Demon, a Set of Rallye Mirrors, Some 4-Speed goodies, and so forth. Oh and my dad wanted to go again, to get a Rallye Cluster for his Duster too.
All in All, I spent about 10 Hours of driving today, Left at 3:30am, didn't make it home until 4pm... And never left the state of Pennsylvania :wack: Well worth the trip though. Got my Demon parts, My dad got a Big Screen TV and some parts for a customer's car in the Paint Booth at the moment, etc.
