Does anyone have pics of there fastback Barracuda as they mini tubbed it.How far can you go and be able to keep the back seat? Can I just relocate the springs and get a big tire in the factory tubs with NO RUBBING issues?I want a 275x60X15 tire under the Barracuda.

Jim

Got my 68 Cuda Mini-Tubbed , Its still in the shop for paint.....
Ive seen several with the back seat , I plan on using my back seat also.
The bottom only needs a little trimmed on the back rear corners , I think my seat back will be narrowed a few inches on each side.
I hope more chime in on this
Donnie

I have 265 60 15's underneath my scamp with no minitub and stock 8.75. I bet i can tuck a 275 under there to but then its minitub time after that.

I have a fastback and have always wondered how it could be done. I know it can be done but what mods would have to be done to the interior panels that are located in the cargo area? I mean is that area even affected? The panels on each side are against the tubs. Sorry to but in 68383GTS but I'm very curious about this myself. I mean I have friends tell me to tub mine but I tell them that more than likely it will affect the cargo looks in which I really don't want to do. The panels attach to the body at the top so moving the panels inward would make it a PITA to re attach them along with the stainless trim .

I am curious about the same thing Mullinax.Mine is a Formula S car and this was my original plan until I got the Formula now I am not sure if I can cut on it.Kind of going back and fourth this is why I wanted a plain 318 car..LOL

If I just move the springs in can I get 275x60x15's under it with the original tubs?

Yeah that's what I did. I used the Mopar Offset kit.

Here is a old thread with a few pictures of my car. This when I was still wet behind the ears. There is however some useful information that will get you on your way with the 275/60/15.

So Donnie what size tire do you have under that thing?Rim size?Rear end width?

325X50x15's on the rear with a 15X10 rim

I cant remember the rear width off the top of my head , but Im thinking about 55" . The car is in the shop now or I would get a quick measurement for you .

i am using M&H 390/45/15 tires and full interior. 50+ hours (lost count) in customizing inside to make everything look factory (back seat and side panels). Only have a couple pics can't find my mock up pictures with everything together before taking apart.

Thanks Donnie for the pics. Now I'm itching to do mine. lol

A few of those pics looks good then the other ones I don't think I would like to much. The last red cuda looks good.

Keep us posted davescuda on your progress. Looking really good!

It would help me some if my back seat was in the car when I got it.But it looks like the only part of the seat that is between the factory tubs is the seat back at the bottom, right? So has anyone mini tubbed their car and just moved the seat foward a bit instead of narrowing it?

Ive seen them moved forward , it really takes up the leg room . Mine fit in just by trimming the bottom rear corners of the seat frame , of course the seat back will need much more work
Donnie

I don't see anything that seems apparent that has been done to the rear seat in the pics of the red cuda above.

I talked to the owner at the Nats last year with the red Cuda.
The seat back was narrowed and hinges removed , I think the seat bottom was shortened some and moved forward , compare the pics of it with an untubbed car
It was the best job Ive seen yet , and hard to tell unless you had them side by side or owned one .
He told me he had a lot of time in it to make it look factory

Wow he had me fooled... still does. lol

That is a extremely neat job he did.

i move my back seat back forward 2.5 inches and my bottom 1.5 inch. stretched my back side panels 2.5 inches (that was a lot of work) and added to the floor piece. my back seat works, folds down. everything looks factory. i will post more pictures

If you move the springs in can you run the exhaust in the stock location?Does the exhaust run under or next to the frame rail origially?

subscribed i am going to mini tub my 68 fastback and now trying to get ideas but these all look like old posts

jim, i just bought a moser dana 60 for my 68 formula S. i am using the off-set hangers on mine. the rear end is stock with. 275/60/r15,s fit with no problem.i did not mini tub mine. i think i might be able, with a 5" back space rim to run 325/50/r15,s.i can post pics, if you like....
