I want to replace the rearview mirror glass in my car. It's really hazy and pretty useless.

I've got the mirror off, but the glass is still glued to the housing. Is there a way to dissolve the glue or get the glass out without breaking it? I've tried to pry it out with a putty knife, but it feels like it's gonna break.

If you're talking about the inside rearview mirror, probably easier to just replace the whole darn thing. I've used a putty knife and a heat gun to remove the glass from a door mirror but never attempted the inside mirror.

Thx RedFish, Yes it's the inside rearview mirror. It took about an hour slowly prying with the putty knife and cutting thru the glue with a long blade sharp knife. But I got it off without breaking it.

I probably could have just bought another one, but other than the glass being hazy, the mirror housing is in great shape!!
