We didn't get to go to the Montgomery race. I wasn't feeling well. But I did get a good friend of mine to drive the AMX Saturday at the I 22 braket race. He did a good job being the first time he's been in the car. He .494'ed 4th round. The car performed flawlessly. We unloaded with a 5.860 , 1.244 and 116.5 mph at 3:30pm . We went 5.856, 1.242 and 116.6 mph the second pass. We dialed the car 5.84 the first round and we won that round with a 012 light and ran a 5.855 on the 84 dial. He ran it out the back as he was racing against a dragster dialed a 4.88. Second round we left the dial a 5.84. Our opponent was 497 red and he ran it out the back again and went 5.856. Third round we decided to up the dial to 5.85 , I was against this but he assured me that he knew what the brake pedal was for....lol. Third round were running a local guy whose a pretty successful braket racer dialed a 6.18 . We're 013 on the tree he's 009 . Mark, my driver gets past him and taps the brakes and goes 5.877 at 114.2 mph. The other guy runs off for some reason. He goes he goes 6.219 on his 6.18. 4th round we leave the dial on 5.85 . Mark goes 494 red runs the AMX out the door and goes 5.854, 1.242 and 116.7 mph.
We didn't have the night that we were hoping to have. But we had fun and didn't break anything. The AMX went 6 straight 1.24's at sixty feet and it runs the same et at midnight as it did at 4pm. Pretty happy with that.
I have not turned a screw on the new APD 1040 cfm 4150 style alcohol carb. And the car obviously likes the Phoenix radial slicks. The car is not building up much heat in the engine and I really think that I should lean it up a little bit. But I put a star vacuum pump on it and it's not milking the oil. So I probably won't touch it. Sorry for the long post.
