Mopar locking gas cap

For you Mopar aficionados I'll bet you didn't know Chrysler offered a locking gas cap for their cars. I am unsure about the Valiant bodies but Darts had a chrome cap that was an optional feature...

Don't be fooled by the reproductions or so-called Chrysler caps advertised on e-bay. They may fit but are not specifically for Mopar despite fitting.

The inner part of the cap was designed to touch flat against the indented housing where the filler neck is - its killer feature was meant to prevent fuel theft in a more efficient manner. There were four metal stubs that protruded outward and have to be aligned up-down, left-right so you knew if your cap was positioned accurately.
You can find them on Dart A-bodies from 1962-1965; two-door and four-door.

I found mine on a '63 Dart at a junkyard for $5 dollars.
