hello! just wanted to let everyone know, who might be putting magnum heads on an older 360 and using Mopar performance special length push rods part number p5007477 to double check that they are not bent when you get the box.i have gotten 3 boxes now from Mancini racing and all 3 boxes have had at least 4 or more that were bent.some bent really bad! lucky for me my brother in law reached in and turned mine before we put the intake on,because i had 6 or 8 that were bent, already installed.i never thought to check brand new rods before, but i will from now on! Mancini is going to check with Mopar performance to see whats going on. just a little info. hope it helps someone in the future!

I've never gotten a good pushrod from MP. Not for years. I use Smith Bros. or try to find a shelf part number in the Comp Hi-Tech lineup.

I got mine from Summit; I as many found that I needed 7.650" instead of MP 7.625's. I have Mag heads (Engine Quest) on my daily driver 318 in my '83, 3/4 ton truck

this is my first mopar rebuild not to mention mixing different styles and years.how did you find out you need the other size?

Depending on the size of the base circle of the cam, the height of the block deck or thickness of the heads you may not get enough preload on the lifters with a 7.625 push rod.

I found that in my 360 build with magnum heads I was only getting 0.020" of preload into the lifter resulting in a lot of lifter clatter until the engine had fully warmed up. I went with the 7.650 long push rod and got rid of the noise when the engine was closed.

You can check the preload by screwing down the rocker perches until the slop is just gone (need to do this with the lifter on the base circle) then count the part of a revolution before the perchs bottoms out. The 5/16-18 bolts that hold the perches represent 0.055" per revolution. The 0.020" I had should have been enough but I went with the next longer stock size push rod (7.650) which gave me 0.045" of preload. Of course this is all moot if you are using adjustable rockers.

Tripped over this thread this morning. I had already ordered a set of the P5007477 pushrods and was just waiting on them. They showed up this afternoon.

Sure enough, (2) of them were bent. The rest looked good when I rolled them across my desk. Thanks for pointing out the problem. Because I saw this, I promptly opened the box and check them.

Luckly, Gina at Hinckley Dodge was kind enough to open another package and send me some replacements.

BTW, the pushrods are discontinued, so I feel lucky to find a dealer with another set that was willing to fix the issue.

It will have to wait until this weekend before I know whether or not they are the wrong length, though. :-(

Shoot, I ordered a set of these from Mancini for my 360 Magnum build a couple months ago, got them but never really took a close look at them. I'll have to check it out when I get home, boy I'll be pissed if I have bent ones since it's too late to return anything...

Hey dgc how much did you remove from the decks of your 360? Just wondering about the pushrod length because I most likely have to get my block decked too, not sure how much though. The Lunati cam I want to run may have a different base circle than a COMP as well, anybody know if this is the case?

mopar themselves use smith bros. whats that tell you?pretty sure you have to be careful to not get a small base circle cam
