I have a set of mopar performance valve covers i would like to trade for a 1971 demon 318/904 8 3/4 combo driveshaft. It measures 48 7/8 inches long.

If 48 1/4" will work, I may still have it. Around 3" diameter tube, 7260 joints & 904 slip spline, I can double-check the measurements tomorrow evening. Will have to check shipping too.

Exactly how are you measuring?
I have several A body shafts

Mine is 48 as you measured.
It has the large yoke attached

I will look in some of my parts cars to see if I am missing something

I have one out of my demon with the same combo but it's 49 3/8" center to center.I'm assuming you are allowing 1" play when the trans yoke is pushed in all the way?Mine are the small u joints also.

I have 49 1/2 in it now. I was going by a measurement post on here that said factory is 48 7/8. Mine is too long i believe. Its a homemade driveshaft and is off balance. Dont think its worth getting balanced being that much too long

There are alot of variables in these old cars so I would recommend that you measure for it properly.Make sure you have the car setting with the weight on the rear end as it would sit at ride height.Find a local heavy duty semi truck shop and most of them can rework and balance your drive shaft.
