Did chrysler ever produce service manuals just for their engines? I'm interested in re-building my small block 360 sometime in the future but have never built an engine before and would like some reading material. So far the only service manual info I've found were vehicle service manuals which had a section on the engine. I tried searching around on google and here on the site but didn't come up with anything.

Mopar Performance used to have "some stuff." I don't recall the titles, exactly.

The service manual has the information on re-building the engines. Otherwise look for "how to rebuild your small block Mopar" and "How to hot rod your small block Mopar" books....

K, I've seen those books. I'll keep my eye out for any service manual info. I found a link online to a LA318/360 marine engine service manual but I'm sure those are different.

Here are some more "aftermarket" books that are good to read:

Here they are all together with the Mopar Performance ones in my last post:

Here are some HP Books worth reading:

Here is my most favorite. The early edition of "How to Rebuild Your SB Mopar", it has the parts ID in chapter 4 that was taken out in the later editions. Look for the old "gold" covered one here for the Parts ID and interchange section. I use this so much the binder is falling apart... (Like the favorite Playboy mag... LOL!). I've seen used ones for sale doing Google searches and Amazon in the past.

Anything by Larry Shepard is worth reading.

For service manuals go here:

Download as many as you want for free. You can't have too much information, only too little...

I like to use the "prime years" (67-71) for most of my reference, unless it is more year specific. For sure try to get one as close to the year of your engine as possible. Information on the 360 will be in 71-72 and later manuals...

Also be aware that there is a typo in the manuals for a while for the small block rocker arm torque, it's supposed to be 200 inch pounds, not 25 - 30 foot pounds like some of the manuals had. They will stretch and break that high of torque...

That guy looks like he's either trying to hold in a fart, or contemplating suicide
