Had my sons motor on the dyno. It is a 440 with a 500 stroker kit, Edlebrock heads ported from Hughes racing, Hughes racing .579-.587 lift cam. super victor intake with a quick fuel 1050 cfm carb. Made 584 FT LBS torq@ 557 Hp. Not bad. I thought the HP would be a little higher. That should move his car pretty good.

With that combo I would have expected around 650HP, just curious, whats the CR and whos rockers are you using and their ratio. Also is that a roller or flat tappet cam.

Interesting, how the heck is my little 340 supposed to make 450hp when that BB stroker is at 584....sigh. I think easy chair dynos read a little higher than real ones LOL. Kev

I think it's the cam. Hughs cams seem to be geared towards torque. I ran a couple Hughs rinds through compcams program and they had very flat large torque curves but the h.p #s were down.

If I were you I'd go back and have a look at the area under the curve to see what I mean.

I would have to agree with you. The torque was there from the start. At 2300 RPM there was 515 Ft [email protected] HP and just was climbing. This motor is a torque monster.
